About Us: The Consolidated Association of Pride, Inc. (CAPI) is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation made up of GLBT Pride coordinators in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah and the country of Mexico. Encompassing a full range of membership, member committees range from some of the largest in the world (San Francisco and Christopher Street West), to some of the smallest, with midsize events well represented in the rank-and-file. CAPI is a very active association with a governing Board of five officers, providing a number of services to its members. Conferences: An annual conference is held in late January or early February of each year. Mini-conferences are also held on a periodic basis. Promotion Program: This consists of four parts: Posters, distributed and displayed throughout the CAPI region; Ads, running between 30 and 40 times in regional publications; Postcards, distributed throughout the CAPI region; Website, with links to member's websites. History: CAPI was formed in 1987 in San Jose by five founding members, Christopher Street West, Long Beach, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose, as the California Association of Pride, Inc. In 1996, the association was renamed as the Consolidated Association of Pride, Inc. to better reflect its membership, which had grown from its original California based committees to include members in several nearby states and Mexico - totaling 37 in 2008. Working hand-in-hand with InterPride. CAPI focuses its efforts on local and regional activities, while InterPride focuses on issues of national and international concern.
