The 2007 LGBT pride events present an important opportunity to recognize the determined efforts of California's LGBT community to ensure the respect of, and dignity for, every Californian. The community's efforts to educate people about issues that affect LGBT people in our state and that promote acceptance, understanding and equality, have an impact on every one of us and make California a richer, better place. California's greatest attribute is our diversity and honoring this diversity by ensuring equality and justice for all residents is critical to our state's future. I join you in this commitment to advance the rights, freedoms and responsibilities for all of us; and to build a California that works for hope and tolerance rather than fear and divisiveness. I commend the organizers of this year's events for all their hard work. Your commitment to achieving equality is certainly cause for celebration.
