Welcome to Pride 2009!

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone who has gathered for the 2009 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Celebrations.

These celebrations follow a year of great struggle. We know that great change is possible in our lifetimes and I firmly believe that equal marriage rights will one day be the law in the State of California. It can come quickly and easily, or over time with great struggles. I hope that day comes soon, and I believe it will.

Please accept my warmest wishes for a most enjoyable and memorable celebration!
