2009 Pride Celebrations

Welcome to all who stand with me in support of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender pride throughout the great state of California!

Pride events give us an opportunity to recognize the millions of proud Californians tirelessly fighting for LGBT equality. They symbolize our resolve and give us an opportunity to celebrate the five states that have mandated marriage equality and those soon to join, such as New Hampshire.

In California, our fight continues as public opinion evolves beyond discrimination. As your Lieutenant Governor, I remain a forceful advocate for LGBT rights and the principle that equality for all means just that - ALL - without any exceptions. Standing together, we will not allow Proposition 8 to break our spirit or blur our focus. We stand together, stronger and more determined than ever to build a state of equality for our families, communities and future generations.

With immense pride, gratitude and admiration, I commend you for your efforts to advance equal rights and offer my best wishes for a successful Pride celebration.
